The Place of Grace

THE PLACE OF GRACE!

The Power to break Free!

Time to move forward

Scripture: John 5; 1-9,

Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water Whosoever stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? (John 5:2-12 KJV)

listen I must instruct you of this important fact I'm not sharing a sermon with you I'm declaring God's Word about you, concerning your current position and how heaven views it!

this word today comes to empower, to authorize, and cause you to pursue purpose with passion!

The lesson will upset someone current opinions about the text. Even I have preached it because it sound good the way I've heard it! but knowing the truth will make you free! Not set you free but made free because if you are set free you can be bound again! But if you are made free you are free and nothing can hold you down, you are free indeed!

This bible lesson open informing us that there is a place called grace

Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

Five represent the number of grace, Bethesda means place of grace

We know and understand that grace is favor and is the supernatural power of God's love, freely giving to man by God because he chooses to do so by his Love.

What's amazing is that we can be in a place of grace and yet settle for the traditions of  religion and remain bound and captive to its rules.

In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting

Because the grace of God will draw you, but religion will decide who and when you can go!

The bible says they are in a place of grace and they are impotent!

Impotent mean powerless, they are powerless this represents their spiritual state, and the discription of the sickness their natural state. The text tends to suggest that waiting was one of them!

I know the scripture says waiting for the water to be troubled. But reading further in the text suggest that waiting was one of the sickness!

And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

infirmity true meaning is weakness. It is often translated as sickness but its Turne meaning is weakness!

Physical, mental, and emotional weakness.

When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case

Saw him (waiting) Lie there, and for a long time!

His weakness was waiting in a place of grace for a long time with no change!

When Jesus finds him he is lying down and He knew he had been there a long time.

Question what's on your mind? For as a man thinketh  in his heart so is he!

Wilt thou be made whole?

how long will you sit here struggling to be next?  How long will you look for other to help you? how long will wait until someone tells you it's time?

his sickness was waiting, the bible did not say he couldn't walk! In fact it tells us that he could move he was just slow!

Others beat me in to the pool!

listen I've come to ask question of all those who are sitting on gifts talent and dreams, Witl thou be made whole?

He answer Jesus and reveals to us that his problem or even his focus was not pain pressure or even soreness! But his focus his mindset when the season came when said it was time he was never ready, and was waiting on others to do what you couldn't  see yourself doing!

Remember the bible says the multitude was impotent (Powerless)  at this place of grace. And their powerlessness resulted in  them being according to the original translation of the text,   blind (no vision). Halted ( Held back, Stuck or lack of movement) withered (hopeless or dry )

This spiritual lack of power in a place of grace resulted in emotional and mental sickness. Not just physical sickness but emotional.

Because reading the text slowly I find some challenges to what I've previously understood, believing that their sickness

Was all physical and they couldn't  get around. but the impotent man who had infirmities, said  when I was come someone beat me into the water. So I suggest that there were more mentally sick and emotionally challenged who was waiting

because of the religious tradition of men.

I'm encouraged that they were faithful in coming year after year,  seeking the season for the troubling of the water that whosoever get in will be made whole of whatever he suffer.

But I'm concern because having the faith the to keep to coming  the place of grace,  but not ever receiving the

1. power, ability to move forward.

2. permission to pick up and go on.

3. purpose to expose or reveal the grace of God

listen the bible exposes that those Jews who were there on the sabbath question when seeing the man walking out of the pool hall! It is illegal to carry your bed on the sabbath! It's against the rules to think outside the box! We don't worship that way, That's to spiritual!

Who told you you can carry that thing? After all I know you and weakness your suggle I've seen where you been seated all these years and your name has not come up on our list suggesting it was your turn! Who told you you can carry this?

listen we know it was Jesus but the man didn't because the text reveal Jesus  was in the crowd,

but he had heard a different word a new sound in this season that was not the same old instructions of how it was suppose to happen and when it could happen!  But this word from the crowd adresses desire, focus and faith

It came with instructions for how to obtain the favor!

Beware of the pool attendants

( haters )

A Man with a Withered Hand

MARK 6; 1-9,

3 Again he entered the synagogue, and a man was there with a withered hand. 2 And they watched Jesus,[a] to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him. 3 And he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come here.” 4 And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. 5 And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored. 6 The Pharisees went out and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.

Luke 13:10-17

New Living Translation (NLT)

Jesus Heals on the Sabbath

10 One Sabbath day as Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, 11 he saw a woman who had been crippled by an evil spirit. She had been bent double for eighteen years and was unable to stand up straight. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Dear woman, you are healed of your sickness!” 13 Then he touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God!

14 But the leader in charge of the synagogue was indignant that Jesus had healed her on the Sabbath day. “There are six days of the week for working,” he said to the crowd. “Come on those days to be healed, not on the Sabbath.”

15 But the Lord replied, “You hypocrites! Each of you works on the Sabbath day! Don’t you untie your ox or your donkey from its stall on the Sabbath and lead it out for water? 16 This dear woman, a daughter of Abraham, has been held in bondage by Satan for eighteen years. Isn’t it right that she be released, even on the Sabbath?”

17 This shamed his enemies, but all the people rejoiced at the wonderful things he did.

Isn't. It amazing that in the place of grace there are those who are satisfied with you being there but not interested in your well being as long as you don't get ahead!

they have no problem watching you sit stuck in life, in fact as long as they can profit off of your condition. They will encourage you to sit quietly!

You must understand some are empowered by your condition. But tonight you're about to go broke yes! I'm getting up from here!

Those who are keepers of the temple and because this took place at a pool ill call them pool attendants. Where benefiting from this process. Reposition yourself!

Don't get stuck on the porch!

The place of grace II

Scripture: John 5; 1-9,

Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water  stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

(Ephesians 4:7, 11, 12 .

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

Tell your neighbor, I did not come this far to get stuck!

I must remind you of some very important truths as it relates to this series on the place of Grace!  Remember that the name Bethesda in the Hebrew tongue means; Place of grace or house of grace or place of out pouring!

Which informs us of God intent for that place, I go even further to say this text and this place represent God's role for the Church The Church is suppose to be a place where whosoever can come and be healed of Whatsoever!

It is a portrait of God's desire for the Church. it has five porches,

Wherein lay a multitude of impotent folks, blind, halt, withered waiting,

Now I must point out to the importance of this area and how it is a type of the Church!

1.   There is at Jerusalem a sheep gate

2.   There is a place where the sheep can be washed

3.   This place was called Bethesda, House of Grace or place of out pouring!   The word for Grace in the Greek is caris this is where we get our English word charismatic and charisma which means undeserving favor or unmerited favor and supernatural power of God.

Grace is unmerited favor of God's enabling power.

So by the name of the place being Bethesda it was divine intent for it to be a place of Grace! Of unmerited favor and a place of out pouring of God's enabiling Power on whosoever and for whatsoever!

And this is God's intent for the Church to be a place of  grace a place of unmerited favor and where there is an out pouring of God's enabiling power!!

where His Super is on our natural enabiling us to do what I couldn't  do without the power of God!

And my Faith is suppose to keep me in that place!

You missed it! There is a place a domintion of undeserved favor and enabiling power of God, made available to whosoever for whatsoever! And our faith is what keeps us connected to that place! Not works!

Romans 5;2,

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (Romans 5:2 KJV)

We have access to grace through faith!

listen the word faith and grace are not to different things, they are in origin the same. Grace is the realm and faith is the force released in that realm! The bible often refers to the word as the word of grace, we know faith comes by hearing and by the word of God. Shout Grace!

that's why God told me to inform you that you have received power from the teaching and the preaching of the Word of God that has given authority to live Godly lives, and to discover your purpose and to fill it while in the Earth giving God all the Glory!

That is the role of theChurch!

and God has given the church gifts with grace to help whosoever with whatsoever they had!

The five fold ministering gifts! But when we make more about the gifts then we do who the gifts are for! We end up with people being stuck!

The gift were suppose to get people to the pool where there was an outpouring but we find them stuck and weak.

Why I'm glad you asked! It is because this place of grace has now become a place of grace with merit! Whosoeve gets in first!  Now it has become a place based on how good you are and what you do! Instead of just getting their by faith! Because of grace!

notice not only is this a problem but it causes the atmosphere to change from grace to merit where

everybody is out for themselves because if you are hoping to be next you can't afford to help someone behind you or you will lose your spot! You can't be honest with what you are dealing with and struggling with because you will get expose and someone will take your spot!  that's not a system of Grace!

Another problem is this When you make the place of grace a place of merit, you cause folk to become weak or powerless because now they're trying to get free by works and not by grace! And when that happen the God of grace can show up in the place and people who really need him did not recongize Him! A multitude of sick folk were there and they did. Not know him, so Jesus shows up and finds people stuck!

John 1; 17,

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. (John 1:17 KJV)

Grace and truth showed up and knows how long this impotent man who was Infirmed had been in this case. And ask will thou be made whole?

he said I haven't  had anybody to  put me in the pool

And I move to slow,

He disqualified himself for being made whole, he did not meet the guidelines.

But grace removed the guidelines, grace moved the pool out the way!

For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. (Romans 4:14, 16, 20, 21 KJV)

The unrecognized place of grace!

Sripture: John 5; 13,

And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. (John 5:13 KJV)

Introduction

Another problem is this When you make the place of grace, a place of merit, you cause folk to become weak or powerless because now they're trying to get free by works and not by grace! And when that happen the God of grace can show up in the place and people who really need him did not recongize Him! (Hebrews 11; 6,)  "they that cometh to God must believe that He is,"

A multitude of sick folk were there and they did. Not know him, so Jesus shows up and finds people stuck

What the Word say about Grace.

Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:   (Read More...)

James 4:6 - But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble

Romans 11:6 - And if by grace, then [is it] no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if [it be] of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

1 Corinthians 15:10 - But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which [was bestowed] upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

he move the pool out of the way!

And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage. (Ezra 9:8 KJV)

The power of Grace part 1

Caught by Grace!

Scripture: John 8;4,  EPHESIANS 2; 4-5, Romans. 5; 8,   Luke 19; 7,

1Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. 2And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. 3And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

EPHESIANS 2; 1-10,

1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

. He is the father of us all. (Romans 4:6-8, 14-16 BOOKS)

David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: "Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them." For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless, because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression. Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. (Romans 4:6-8, 14-16 BOOKS)

through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:2-6, 8 BOOKS)p

The Power of Grace  part 2

Grace,is coming to your House!

Scripture : Luke 19; 5-7.

And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchæus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. (Luke 19:5-7 KJV)
